A bachelor done, but what is next?

Carots for Raya

I did not want to lose out the hype of preparing for Raya, although technically I am not going to celebrate it. But seeing others who are really into it when I was browsing around town over the weekend, you cannot imagine how many big efforts do some people do in order to dig it in for the celebration.

I too don't want to just rest on my laurels, so I decided to bake cakes for some special friends. Instantly there was no need for me to go through the stack of cooking books mum has on the shelfs. I memorised every detail of the carot cake I used to bake frequently. So I head myself to the bakery shop and got all the needed ingredients in my trolly beg.

Initially there were 4 cakes, it seems my special lists of friends has tallied up to 6. Delivery is hoped to be done in these few days, when the festive mood is still swinging in the air.

A womaniser, Britney I worship her!

She is back with her new single, Womaniser. I dont freaking care what the public thinks of her especially with the chaos in her life. I watched a documentary on her on E! abruptly called Britney - Prices of Fame. People can be bithcy and mean but I truly believe in getting out from the dump and really get back to life with greater aspirations.
She won 3 MTV Awards recently, and with this hot single, truly she is back. Sorry Christina your comeback isn't as hot as hers.

A club for a club

The past one month, I have been living in denial to myself and perhaps some friends. I vividly remembered that I told my friend Aizat that I was not going to club during the fasting month. He quickly ignored me because he said I was just talking a big bull.

Indeed he was. The first weekend, my urge was as high as the week before except that I had only a friend to accompany me. My usual hangouts was not even full house despite the upper floors being close. But it did gave me some liberty to browse the dance floor clearer. With lesser crowds, the chances or variables to come in contact with someone is high!

Although I did manage to get some heads turning, hah, but I was not too keen and too sure if what I was doing was for a benefit. After three weekends, I came up with a conclusion that those who came were basically the same ones. Except on the occasional trips, you would come across some interesting faces.

My utmost finale weekend was indeed like a fairytale. I have bumped into this young chap the night before. The Friday I was not suppose to go out.

So we accidently crossed our eyes, and he gave me a smile. I did not respond until later. And that later became a few times. Ok, he got the hint. But nothing happened. This usual sad part of me would just let it sink in. I have this very low esteem and guts. We bumped again at the post club meeting place, Pelita. I smiled again. The best I could do. But later on I added a wink with it which I think it works. I ended just waving goodbye to him.

Come Saturday night, I was not hoping to go out because of the frustration from the night before. And I knew he would not be going to Market Place for some reason. He was someone I only see to be fitting in the Friday night crowd. I went to the market after a 2 months hiatus. I was not expecting much because it was the last weekend before Raya, and I was just passing by Oblique where the que was ridiculous. Indeed going to market was a waste of my 30 bucks. My new found clubbing friend, Hellis, got me to go back to where we were last night. I was not too keen as it was already nearly 2am.

We walked from the market and thronging the busy roads of P. Ramlee, I ended paying another 15 bucks for two cokes.

Guess who I spotted at the corner of the bar. The young chap. He was just slidding through the sofa, as though he knew I was coming and waiting for me to just give him a hug. He saw me. And smiled. The smile was different from yesterday.

I told myself that I had to change for the good. I waved at him and offered my coke. He said no. I went over instead and said, ''you sure you don't want some?". He said, "no thanks. i'm bloated up already. but i'm not for you."

The teasing works. We exchange numbers at Pelita afterwards.

KL Hornbill Festival 2008

So I was approached by my dear cousin for a cultural performance last week. At first I was not too keen to do it as by the way she described the event, it was not up to what I would like to contribute in. But then again I thought why would I want to be sceptical about it since I don't have much to do these few days. And for the good cause I agreed to help choreograph our native dance for this showcase.

In mind, I only thought that this performance was to be performed for the students of University Malaya. This was from all the informations I could grasp from my cousin whom she herself could not fork the itinerary out because all the necessary information was with my auntie who happens to be an activist in the group.

When we assembled for the first rehearsal, I started off the choreography at the minimal as I did not want to make it so complicated. Just the usual ones I have produce in the past. But as soon my dearest auntie step to the rehearsal hall with the event flyer. My jaw dropped to its biggest scale! For goodness sack, I am about to choreograph our native dance for a festival. Not just some festival but the Hornbill Festivall where big people and gazillion publics throng in to watch.

So what else? I made up my mind to focus the next one week for this showcase. I quickly took charge and plot up a new choreography. With little time in hand, and only a handful of volunteers to dance, I was to do something that is out of my sight.

I just hope it will work this weekend, especially with all the fuss getting all the traditional costumes and gears from here and there. And pestering my auntie in Miri to urgently mail me the folks music.

So apart from my native, the Lun Bawang, which I will be presenting the Alai Nguan and Busak Pakui dance, other natives or tribes sending thier troupe for the cultural performance segment are the Ibans, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Kelabit, Bisaya and Melanau. These are the heabyweights.

Well if you're around the area you should just hope in and experience the Sarawak cultural exposure for the night.
